    These small and spidery-loooking 'Mechs and their assault-class command 'Mech, lovingly nicknamed the "waddling trashcan of doom", are an attempt by Pyrotech industries (which TME Industries currently owns a third of) to build an effective combat system out of inexpensive and readily available parts. The chassis' mount no special armor and only use well understood systems mounted in easy-to-repair brackets. The theory, to use them as a way to field units that are more effective C-Bill for C-Bill, worked wonders for planetary garrisons and poorly developed worlds. A single platoon, consisting of twelve Men at Arms, a command 'Mech, and the support 'Mech, can take down an assault lance of mechs that are significantly more advanced technologically that cost two to three times as much. The drawback to the Men at Arms is the reason they never were seen outside planetary defence on undeveloped worlds: the transportation costs to mount a planetary assault with them would bankrupt anything less than a major house. The more advanced II versions carry advanced fire-control systems, making them dangerously accurate, and greatly amplifying the already considerable mass firepower of the unit. In confined spaces, however, the Men at Arms can never combine their firepower effectively so they usually lose. Most of the systems used in these 'Mechs are so simple that even untrained techs can often repair them in a fraction of the time as more advanced 'Mechs. On the other hand, customizing their primitive systems is all but impossible.
