OVERVIEW
Designed to allow artillery support to keep up with armored advances, the Crusader is arguably a front-line artillery piece. Armored like a main battle tank and fast enough to keep up with heavy armor columns, the Crusader ensures that armor is never left without artillery support.
CAPABILITIES
The TME-182 is armed with a massive Long Tom heavy artillery gun mounted in a fully rotatable turret. To allow the gun to fire to the side even when the Crusader is on the move, the hull is unusually wide and the track suspensions can be adjusted to compensate with the Long Tom's massive recoil. Sharing the turret with the massive cannon is a short-range missile six-rack for point defense. Unfortunately, having only fifteen shots for the main gun means that the Crusader must stay near a steady supply of ammunition.
DEPLOYMENT
The TME-162 Crusader is showing up in armored divisions across the Inner Sphere. A possible variant using two Arrow-IV launchers is being considered for trade with Clan Hell's Horses.
