Yes, that's right. I won the Internet.
You may recall awhile back I posted a particular rant concerning teachers. My negative example was one Doctor David Manor, fired from his post here at Parks College and escorted out not only in disgrace, but under armed guard. The armed guards were our own Department of Public Security rentacops, but armed guards nonetheless.
Well, a few weeks ago he discovered Google Mail and, more importantly, discovered that the University's IT didn't have that address blocked. So it was time for him, in his mind, to remind us all he existed and offer us his own view on things such as life, justice, and how everyone was just trying to keep him down.
The following is reproduced without permission. It can all be found at the website run by the Manor cultist mentioned in the e-mail, and Manor has never appeared overly concerned with people making things public. Of course, that could just be him making things public, but what's sauce for the goose...

Hey/Shalom: I was recently informed that the SLU Administration blocked my emails...
I sent my "Mini-Max" Commencement greeting in early May.
I attach one of the blocked story with a moral AND an open letter to the Provost...
Stay well/in touch - I expect to have my new email address blocked per Jesuit "free-speech" that got me the "Kangaroo-Court"!
Thanks!

DM
Hey/Shalom: Dear graduating students, as commencement approaches with jobs, family, and "real" life to follow - I would like to leave you with the following thoughts and wishes: Congratulations on your achievement in joining the "Rocket Scientist" field. You now will have the diploma that will enable you to learn and practice in the best profession in the world. I hope that my Educational efforts will help you become much more than competent engineers - more than engineers who are "conservative, square, and boring". I wish for you to be human beings, in full, with HUMOR, love, and, most of all, justice as the basis for your lives and careers. This may be my last communication with you - it is therefore appropriate to take some liberty with my so-called "Mini-Max Commencement Address". Please note that I have toned-down my "address" as much as possible.
My work ethics are such that my loyalty was first and foremost to my job and students --at great personal risk. I knew that retribution in the form of a "Kangaroo Court" was a likely outcome of putting you first, but as a matter of principle I could not succumb to the administration's dictatorial pressure to limit free speech or professors' educational authority. I think Mr. Carlson of MSNBC said it best when he said '...university administrators are idiots' [sic]. As a whistle-blower, incompetent, pompous administrators have plagued me throughout my twenty-two years of service at SLU, and throughout my life.
Some of these administrators "found" a failing female Aerodynamics student (now listed as "5th year undergraduate student") who testified in their "Kangaroo Court". She testified that my forwarded jokes promote date-rape (in the case of that joke mentioning women) and create an atmosphere of undue performance pressure (in the case of that penis tax joke). Such insight from an aspiring "Rocket Scientist"! Only one of the three distinguished professors serving as judges in Biondi's "Kangaroo Courts" dissented from this wisdom and refused to allow Biondi to play the role of "innocent observer." A female student originated my saga by asking Dean Yeigh – who was fired by the faculty shortly thereafter – if it was "appropriate" for a Professor to forward jokes to his students. She later refused the repeated Administration "requests" to testify against me. She also admitted "coming from a very conservative background" and refused to testify partially due to "very, very inappropriate" peer-pressure. I wish her luck in her pursuit of her chosen career as a patent attorney.
The aerospace engineering (AE) department from which you will shortly receive a degree was once second to none in the world! When Ravi was voted as the rotating Chair (not Head) – to lead by consensus – the AE department was ranked number two in the US; now the AE department is ranked number five, the M.S. in AE program is cancelled, and the once coherent AE faculty is no more.I have every hope that Parks will rise once again, in spite of the administration. The uncharacteristic and courageous petition by some Parks faculty that resulted in Dean Yeigh's dismissal - for not doing his job and leaving a pilot in charge of the college - gives me hope for Parks' future. You may be interested to know that a couple of years ago I approached Mr. T. Kelly, a member of the Parks Executive Committee, and expressed my concerns regarding Dean Yeigh and Stolzer job performance. Kelly's response was that he "would not want to be micro managed and he does not want to micro manage the Dean". He was "sure that Dean Yeigh is doing a good job". After Ravi will, finally, step ASIDE – the AE department MAY get another chance following the retirement of old faculty, and hiring of new, competent faculty.
You will hear plenty of advice at graduation from the incompetent administrators who have contributed so much to the devaluation of your degree and the cheapening of your efforts-- individuals lacking all character. Allow me to present some from a more honorable source. As I do for my children:
I wish for you the courage and fortitude to "own" everything you say and write;
Do the right thing regardless of personal risk because the mill of justice grinds slowly but surely.
Do not do things you are ashamed of, and do not be ashamed of things you do;
Say what you mean and mean what you say, never "sit on the fence" or "be slightly pregnant" - commit yourself;
Do not make promises you cannot/do not intend to keep;
When you make a mistake, apologize profusely/sincerely by promising to never do it again - to anyone;
Remember that a sense of humor is the best measure of intelligence, LOL (laugh out loud) and often.
Read other than professional and other magazines e.g., read literature, poetry, as well as novels; see foreign films – it is almost as good as traveling to exotic lands. Learn to fly, and try to think in another language.
Adopt a "Combat Smile" to be used in adverse situations – rather than lose your temper.
In short: Become a person for all seasons and resist being a member of the herd. Do not hesitate to be an OVERT whistle-blower if/when it must be done.
As I told my (other) children: Please remember to consider all options before making a decision - you do that by using your head (the big one….) This leads to a life with NO REGRETS!
If you do not believe that some lives are not worth living and that some things are worth dying for – as history showed time and again - you can be reduced to sub-human. A Spanish proverb says that "Life lived in fear - is only half lived" - let no one intimidate you!
But do not take life too seriously – the fact that you are not getting out alive makes EVERYTHING "small stuff".
There are four stages: getting to know yourself – as you are; accepting yourself – as you are; loving yourself – as you are; and whether you believe in god, nature, or nothing – you CANNOT change but, you CAN modify your behavior as necessary.
Remember that every "story" has at least two sides; that people will do to you whatever you will allow them - allow NO ONE to cross that invisible line thereby jeopardizing your peace of mind/integrity. It is obvious that both oppressor and oppressed agree to play their role – you do not have to "play".
Remember also that:
"Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.", attributed to Henry Ford."…No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women", Ronald Reagan
Do not join the "minimalists" - doing the minimum to get by - be passionate about your work i.e., join the rank of the people who give the "maxima"!
Former students gave me the following citation coupled with a mirror that I lived by:
"*Excellence Can Be Attained If You…
*Care More Than Others Think Is Wise
*Risk More Than Others Think Is Safe
*Dream More Than Others Think Is Practical
*Expect More Than Others Think Is Possible", (Unknown).I hope you will enjoy Biondi's pompous "old Testament/real bible" blessing at graduation. My job as an educator was to make you a competent engineer with an ARC (Accountability, Reliability, Credibility). I hope I have helped deter you from viewing a hypocritical Jesuit Priest like Biondi and spineless sycophants like his administrators as role models. As I told Biondi, stupidity, hypocrisy, and his "holier than thou" mentality might indeed lead one day to a time that his beliefs rule the world. Indeed, this happened once before: it was called "the Dark Ages."
Please feel free to forward my email to interested colleagues, friends, administrators, and students I was unable to reach.
Stay well/in touch!

You may be able to see why this guy is so well... loved by all of us here at SLU. Well, I read through this (and yes, he did copy-and-paste that ENTIRE sent/to/cc line into the body of his e-mail), read through his cultist's site, and decided I'd had enough.
So I hit "Reply All." I'll spare you my own to/cc lines.
Subject: FW: Manor -- You again?
Sir,
I can only assume that you really wanted me to get this
message, not only by establishing a secondary e-mail account
to get around the Information Technology Services filter but
by including my address in the "To" line twice. While I do
have some concern with ITS' practices and just how effective
they may be, I can assure you that it would have gone
through just as well the first time--the standard redundancy
necessary in aerospace engineering tends not to work so well
in information technology; if it didn't work the first time,
it probably won't work the second. Such is the way with
machines.Still, not expecting redundancy to be your motive, I read
through your e-mail and pondered it a bit. I read through
the documents on your student-supported website and
pondered through those as well. Having done so, I've
reached a most unfortunate conclusion: you have not changed
at all. You continue to force your perception of the way
things should be on everyone else, what they feel be damned.
You continue to assert that there is a massive conspiracy
of Jesuits and Arabs and anyone who doesn't happen to like
you instead of perhaps taking on a little bit of the blame
of the consequences of your actions upon yourself. Then you
send this out in the hope of getting additional support for
your plight.Well, you heroically made your stand. You stood up and sent
dirty jokes to people who didn't want them and all you had
to do at any point was to stop. You used to be a soldier.
All you had to do was say "yes, sir," grumble behind your
back, and continue sending things to those who would accept
them or at least not give a damn. All you had to do was
adjust your own actions--not even your attitude!--just a
little to stay on your side of the line the powers that be
drew in the sand for you.Unfortunately, I suppose pushing the boundary wasn't enough.
It was never your fault, after all, so of course asserting
yourself against the authority would entirely be their
fault. You made your choice, you made your bed...Now you're sleeping in it. There is no love lost between me
and the Biondi administration. What gets me is the
continual presumption of innocence, that everyone who
disagrees or dislikes you is somehow trying to keep you down
because they're Jesuit or Arab or Old Boy or what have you.
Those who support you are of course lauded--you're more than
happy to say you get continual quiet support, but from whom?
You're willing to expose your detractors, but not your
supporters? Are you protecting them from the great Pan-Old
Arab Jesuit conspiracy?I'm certain you do have your own particular cabal of
supporters. That's nice. Everyone needs friends. However, you are a scientist. Occam's Razor has to come
into play at some point. Which hypothesis assumes less to
explain the same observations? That everyone independently
just happens to not like you and tries to keep you down, or
that, perhaps, you're just not a likable person? Of course,
you're not aiming to be liked. That's fine. It should come
as no great surprise then that in seemingly opposing
anything approaching sociability you end up alienating
people who then end up not liking you.The obvious retort is that you don't care. Then what's the
point of contacting us now? To remind us you exist? To
emphasize that no, you haven't changed your mind and this is
all still due to dictatorial oppression and injustice which
you had no responsibility in bringing down upon yourself? If that's the case, then my retort is equally obvious: I
for one don't care. See my previous invokation of the
metaphor of bed-making. Still, as you clearly wanted me to
see this, I figured you'd clearly want to see my thoughts on
the matter.I hope your appeals process goes well--not for your sake,
but because it could give Biondi a black eye. Similarly, I
hope it goes poorly for you because it seems the last thing
you need is more encouragement.I also suspect that eventually your Google Mail account will
be blocked by ITS due to your current persona-non-grata
status on University property. As the e-mail system here
/is/ University property and last time I checked Father
Biondi, SJ is /not/ an agent of the United States
Government, I'm afraid appeals to free speech as per the
First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of
America do not exactly apply. Still, I look forward to the
inevitable public response and perhaps I'll be inducted as
the first young heathen student member of the Pan-Old Arab
Jesuit conspiracy. It is the only reasonable explanation,
after all.With extreme sincerity,
Timothy M. Cooper
Currently resisting the herd mentality of just ignoring you.
So yes, standard polite flamewar response. No big deal, right? How do I win at the Internet with this? It gets better.
The next thing I see in my inbox after my reply is:

Subject: Excellent letter
To: coopertm[AT]SLU.EDU
Dear Mr. Cooper:I just read your email to D. Manor. I could not agree more with the
form
and substance of it. It is extremely clear, concise and comprehensive
in
scope and manner (no pun intended.By the way, have I offended you in my role as President? I am sorry
for
whatever I may have done to offend you. Nonetheless, thank you for
your pointed letter.L. Biondi, SJ
This is the same Father Lawrence Biondi, Society of Jesus, who happens to be President of Saint Louis University and who also happens to be the guy I ragged on a bit on my response. Not only do I get a thank you, I get an apology--which, after having met the man in person and being less than impressed, I found to be quite the pleasant surprise. I reciprocated with an appropriate diplomatic reply on that how the apparent hamfisted attitude of his administration towards Parks College hasn't won him any friends but it certainly isn't anything personal. Either way, I was shocked and amazed that as a result of what is a pretty standard upper-class Net flamewar I got a thank you and an apology from someone who certainly outranks me.
I believe this classifies as winning the Internet.
