Alright, I've put up some new stuff. Under Projects are my Senior Design files, half up due to the needs of my group and half up to show off. Under games is my latest version of the Random Planetary System Generator, along with a page describing it. Finally, I've been doing some CG work in DoGA for the boxytroops. Should go a lot easier that way.

FINALLY, I've put something useful up on the Wankhammer 40K page! I figured that since WH40K and the Starship Troopers game are so similar, I may as well translate WH40K stuff into SST with new stats and whatnot and then make my little box counters for the transition. Any excuse to make cheap Vietnamese ripoffs*, after all...
I also keep getting told to write something and get published. I know where I want to go with this. Just not sure how to go there, not yet. If any of you cats have any idea about s-f mags or whatnot I could get published in, feel free to use the contact link below.
Finally, I've been baking! I stumbled upon a decent if simple chocolate chip cookie recipe, and I accidentally made it better by using what I had on hand. So, for all interested, the recipe is below.
* Enjoy, all you Exploitation Now fans.

Okay, more news. I've made a new section on the Gallery to show some of my miniatures painting skillz of an artist. I wrote a new rant on rights ethics. I decided that people may not just want red Boxytroops and so I'm switching that to just white-and-black stuff that can be colored in as people desire. It should also cut down on filesize, too.
Finally, I've hooked up the ol 'Zone with a favicon. Ain't it cool?

The Rant of the Week this week is a bit more visual than most, and now I have pictures of my senior design project linked on the Senior Design page. I'm also tinkering with the Space Marine weapon stats in the Starship Troopers Conversion page; I figure that bolt weapons should just be able to kill Warrior Bugs outright and with that in mind D10-2 is a lot fairer to the Bug player than D6+2 (which is the Bugshot close-in shotgun grenade). The chance of at least hitting a Bug becomes 4/10 (40%) vs. 1/2 (50%), which seems fair for a bolt weapon's extended gyrojet range.
Also, M-7 suits cost an extra metric fuckton of points so... yeah.

Sorry for the whole month between updates, but my laptop died. Hard. When I mean hard, I don't just mean "it wouldn't boot up." At that point, I'd just slap it as a slave to another IDE drive and start looking at it that way. No, I mean hard as in "no BIOS I have access to even recognizes it as existing anymore, much less recognizes it as the hard disk drive it is."
Good for me that I keep backups, eh?
Still, those backups didn't include the Boxytroops I'd been working on for a month in DoGA (those were on the second DVD that didn't get completed because the compy died before Nero could burn the file allocation table) and I hate redoing creative work--trying to get something to look just like something previous--so new plan. Boxytroops in proper 3D, little paper models. Space Marines should be good practice before I try other things and they shouldn't be too technically difficult, just small.

Okay, new rant about martyrs. But this one is about how whiny people relate to true martyrs. Also, on the Starship Troopers front, those Mongoose Publishing capitalist pig-dogs just had to go off and make a Mobile Infantry book, which I should probably pick up to make sure my stats don't suddenly become redundant. As for the models, I've been learning Metasequoia and will export custom parts into Doga for better control of the cel-shading function.
Also, a quick shout out to Weyr with a thanks for saying in #nationstates (irc.esper.net) that my cookie recipe is good. Which allows me to repeat it here. Glad it worked out for ya.
On a related note: to everyone not accustomed to cooking measurement, tsp means teaspoon and TBS means tablespoon. BIG LETTERS for the BIG SPOON, little letters for the little spoon.
Shine on, all.
09 JUN 06
Sorry for the lack of recent updates. I've finally manages to get a counter done for the Starship Troopers Space Marines page. I've decided it's easier just to draw one Marine large on a single sheet of paper and then reduce to whatever size is needed; my detail whoring isn't quite conducive to drawing cartoony Marines in 28 mm scale.
25 JUN 06
I've written a rant on patriotism and added Assault Marines to the Wankhammer port to the Starship Troopers game. Not too much else to report so far.

I stole this from CNN's website but I think it's appropriate given the current situation between Israel and Lebanon.
I am sitting
in my kitchen eating a falafel, hearing the rockets whizzing overhead.
Out in the blue sea I can see the Israeli warships block our port. My six
children are
terrified, and they are not able to go to school. We are all brothers and
sisters
in this world. May this war end soon.
--Mohammed Abu Sheikh, Beirut, Lebanon
Looking over Israel's demands that need to be met before they cease-fire, I don't see any of them being met in the short term given the inherent weakness of the Lebanese government in the south. Yes, I understand full well that if your people get captured, you fight. Saying otherwise would be hypocritical, and enough people know my Heinleinist leanings to point that out. Still, you fight those responsible and when your objective is to rescue five men you make the force applied proportionate to the mission.
You don't spank a baby with an axe.
Enough said.

First of all, I wanna cut this down to a more reasonable size so it doesn't break my relatively old-school style boxes over to the left. I know HTML and I know that if I want to stay in the web design business I should learn CSS but... meh. This is a personal site. I'm an engineer. It's really not worth bothering.
Second, I'm trying to think of a real update rather than just these more-or-less news posts. I should step up the Wankhammer-to-Starship-Troopers conversion stuff, and just fill in with drawings later. I'm still juggling Zone ideas in my head so I can get the science/drama balance right. Finally, I was going to post a guest rant (re: my parents) concerning Superman Returns but I forgot how the niggling details of the plot went and for once internet searches for the script are turning up dry.
I've learned that there's no point in making promises concerning this site anymore. I'll update things as I pretty much feel like it. If I write any stories, I'll put 'em where they belong. If I draw something, it'll go in Artwork. So on and so forth. This website's just a hobby...
...and I've got a LOT of hobbies.
24 SEP 06
Right. Got a rant up on how I won at the Internet and I'll be adding a PARANOIA RP section because I've made up some crap to go there.
I seriously need less hobbies.
